First I want to thank all of the homeschooling bloggers that participated in our blog tour, and thank all of you for joining us. It was an awesome experience for me to bring these amazing and knowledgeable women together for you. I learned so much from each and everyone of them, and I hope you did as well and I encourage you to continue following them.
I would like to share with you my ebook “Control The Chaos, Don’t Let It Control You 5 Secrets Every Mother of Special Needs Child Needs to Know“
This ebook will help you find balance and harmony, but most importantly give you tips to stay on top of the chaos. Being a parent is a hectic job for anyone, but being the parent of a child with special needs is even more chaotic.
We constantly seem to be running from one appointment to the next, putting out fires at school, juggling phone calls, paperwork and more. It’s exhausting, but now more then ever you need to find the time to take care of yourself and don’t let the chaos control you and your life. Taking care of yourself so you can take care of your family has to be a priority.
Let’s take a look at how your roles and responsibilities have changed. Take a minute to answer the following:
Since becoming a parent of a child with special needs, do you realize that you have taken on new jobs? Take a minute and write some of them down. (example: therapist, nutritionist, teacher, advocate and more.
You have also been tasked with new responsibilities that you have never taken on before. Think about those new responsibilities and write them down. (example: understanding medicaid benefits, educating yourself on IEP laws and more)
We all have our challenges in life, but what specific challenges do you as a parent to a child with special needs face? (example: financial burdens, not a enough time and not enough support from others and more)
So now let’s take a peek at all the other responsibilities you have in addition to caring for a child with special needs? (example: single mother, one house income, aging parents are living with you and more)
The point of this exercise for you to take a moment to acknowledge all that you do and to give yourself a pat on the back and realize that when you complete something on your long list of “to do’s” recognize it as a true success and celebrate. We as parents never really seem to give ourselves enough credit.
Hopefully this list can help you to realize what things are truly important and help you to put some plans in place for a more balanced, more manageable lifestyle.
Again just don’t let the chaos control you, control the chaos. Good luck and take one day at a time.
